The iconic Australian Platypus is featured on a new rectangular 99.9% pure silver coin from the Perth Mint.

Western Australian Indigenous artist Darryl Bellotti designed the reverse of the coin, which features the platypus. The Perth Mint's "P" mint mark appears at the top left corner of the coin.
The obverse carries the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. Inscriptions indicate the date "2011", legal tender face value of "1 Dollar", and the silver content and purity "1 oz 999 Silver".
The coins were first released on August 2, 2011 and are offered for a limited time on a mint to order basis. The 2011 Platypus Silver Dreaming coins are housed in illustrated presentation pack and come with a certificate of authenticity.
