2011 Platypus Dreaming Rectangular Gold Coins

The 2011 Platypus Dreaming Gold Coins are struck in 99.99% pure gold and feature an unusual rectangular shape.

The reverse design of each coin features aboriginal art by Darryl Bellotti, a Western Australian Indigenous artist of both Yamatji and Nyoongar descent. The platypus is depicted, which is regarded as a very special animal in traditional indigenous culture. It is one of the few animals that is considered taboo to hunt.

On the obverse is the Ian Rank Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The inscriptions read "Elizabeth II", "Australia 2011", the legal tender value value, gold content, and "9999 Gold".

Available in either 2.5 gram or 10 gram size, the 2011 Platypus Dreaming Gold Coins are struck in a mint to order basis. The 10 gram gold coin measures 25.60 mm by 15.60 mm with a thickness of 3.00 mm. The 2.5 gram gold coin measures 22.60 mm by 13.60 mm with a thickness of 2.00 mm.

Each gold coin is housed in a presentation case with an illustrated shipper and certificate of authenticity.
